Suffering from Headaches?

Did you know that headaches could be caused by tightness and tension in the neck? Muscles and ligaments should be able to stabilise and balance our head, but when this feels "too heavy for your neck", it can be a sign of weakness and tightness of the neck muscles which can cause headaches and an overload in the trapezius muscles as they have to work harder and help to stabilise the head.

Deep Tissue Massage and Sports Massage are fantastic treatments to help and ease neck tension and subsequently headaches. Why not call your Massage Therapist and start feeling the benefits straight away.

Golfer's elbow- Recovery in 4 steps

5/7/2017

The pain occurs in the medial side of the elbow and golfing is one of many sports that can cause this type of injury in the flexor tendons of the forearm.
Picture
The best way to recover from this injury is to follow a combination of the following:

1. Rest and stop the activity that caused the injury for a few weeks.

2. Use a compression strap to reduce some of the tension and protect the tendon if you have to play a sport like golf.

3. Stretch to aid the healing process:

Palm flat on a flat surface with hand rotated 180 degrees backwards, lean backwards to stretch the flexors.

4. And gradually start strengthening exercises. Always stop if they are causing pain.

Is this the end of Ice for Injury Recovery?

For many years ice was commonly used to treat soft tissue injuries to aid the recovery process but this has been recently questioned as there is no evidence that ice helps with injury recovery but quite the opposite, it may delay the healing process.

Below is an interesting article from the person who created the term "RICE", Dr Gabe Mirkin who explains that cryotherapy may actually prolong recovery.

What's so good about Pregnancy Massage?

3/4/2016

We are all aware of the effort it takes to carry a baby inside a woman's body, and let's not forget the stress and sleepless nights.

Pregnancy produces physical and hormonal changes that have an impact on back and leg muscles due to the baby's weight.

Pregnancy massage is a very good option to try and minimise the discomfort associated, in addition it improves blood circulation it helps to relieve back and leg pain and it also promotes relaxation.

Research has shown that women that received massage therapy reported decreased stress levels, anxiety and muscular pain.

Don't forget to look after yourself during this fantastic period of your life, and remember: " Happy Mummy = happy baby"
